Visit WebsiteMental health is poorly understood and recognised among refugees and migrants of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. It is often a taboo and stigma having or discussing it. In addition CALD young people are at high risk of mental health
including AOD (alcohol and other drugs) and suicide yet there is no culturally responsive co-designed program(s) to address the issues. This program is aimed at conducting a one-day workshop to 500 participants in English and in the CALD mother tongue to celebrate the Queensland Mental Health Week. It will be delivered by experts and people with lived experiences, members of the community and the outcomes will be assessed utilising a questionnaire. These include the number of participants who freely speak out and/or seek
help for their mental health, recognition of mental health as an important issue to discuss with their GPs and dispelling myths about mental health/stigma.
Join us for a workshop full of fun and interaction!!
