Don’t miss this ground-breaking discussion into how we can better support men throughout the lifespan.

Research shows that men are struggling, especially in the 35 to 49 age group, which often coincides with the transition to fatherhood. Sadly, men aged 40 to 60 experience higher rates of suicide in our region.

Expect to feel inspired by our panellists sharing their experiences of isolation and how they addressed it, as well as university researchers sharing the latest findings into the mental health of new fathers and men throughout the lifespan.

The need for more support is clear, especially at major life transitions such as new fatherhood. Without it, many men feel isolated. This can lead to feelings of confusion and inadequacy, family conflict and even domestic violence.

Join us for this important panel discussion, hearing from those who are building new ways of connecting men at important life stages.

Panellists:

  • Barnaby Dixson, Lecturer in Psychology, UniSC
  • Tom Docking, CEO, Dads Group
  • Keppel Schafer, SCHHS Nursing Service Director Women’s and Children’s Services
  • Tom Pace, postdoctoral research fellow, UniSC Thompson Institute

This free community event is offered with Australian Government funding under The Alliance for Suicide Prevention – Sunshine Coast.
