Visit WebsiteLet’s take a Walk for Awareness – opening Queensland Mental Health Week on Sunday 8 October 2023. Join the BIGGEST walk for mental health – 9kms around the Brisbane River or participate and walk from anywhere! A fun, rewarding and inspiring community event. Arrive from 7:00am, walk starts at 8:30am. Wheelchair and pet-friendly.
This is a time to come together as a community, celebrate life and remember those we’ve lost. We have two options available to participate. A virtual walk, so you can walk wherever you want or our physical walk in Brisbane with 1,000’s of people making a difference in our community. Beginning with an inspiring opening ceremony, we will remember those lost to depression and mental illness and honour those continuing the battle. We will have a quick warm-up and stretch, then take off on our 9km walk.
We encourage you to join us at Captain Burke park or virtually. Share your photos with the rest of the Walk for Awareness community, showing the amazing impact you’ve just made in the quest to raise awareness of depression and mental illness. Walk for Awareness is an event that involves bringing people together in a friendly and safe environment where issues of mental health can be discussed openly with friends, family, and supportive strangers. We believe the matters surrounding suicide should be discussed, not hidden.
